Tiffaney Guerrero "When Grant qualified for Medicaid in 2007, the DME company that we had ONLY supplied oxygen supplies (& not very well). I kept hearing about other people receiving feeding tubes, suction canisters, etc being covered under Medicaid. On the SEVERAL occasions I approached our existing DME, they informed me Medicaid did not cover these expenses. Not only does Medicaid cover these items plus more, but Milton with URS calls me regularly to see what I need!!!! As a mother of a child with special needs do you know HOW AWESOME that is? Okay so I’m a little over the top with hero song....but, give me a break. I have a hard life! Grant's Mom "I have been in a wheelchair now for over 27 years. I have had many wheelchairs and wheelchair providers over the years, some good and many, not so good. The wheelchair manufacturers have all been pretty much the same. They all sold quality wheelchairs but they each had delays when parts were needed, some technical issue particular to the chair, and poor communication between the supplier and the manufacturer. Most of the problems came from suppliers who were more concerned with the sale and less concerned with follow up and with the actual repair work that was done. The worst part of all was when the supplier would stop servicing wheelchairs or simply go out of business. I have however finally found a provider that not only sells you the chair, they take the extra time at the beginning to make sure you have the chair you need, they follow up when your needs change, and do quality repair work in a timely manner. That company is United Rehab Specialists. Wheelchairs are the only thing they do so they really focus on what's important to their clients. They're not going to switch to oxygen providers like all the other companies have done. Their staff is courteous and follows up in a timely manner. The repair staff is top notch and well-trained with the products they supply. The ownership has a hands-on approach and respond quickly when problems arise. Finally, they are the only company I know of who has worked to ensure that the Medicare coverage necessary for many of us to get wheelchairs, especially the special wheelchairs that many of us need, are covered. If Medicare is allowed to provide wheelchairs through a competitive bidding process we will be unable to get the specialized wheelchairs many of us need.
