Equipment Delivery Timeline

The process of providing your client the appropriate custom power or manual wheelchair is complex. We are committed to complying with each phase of the process to ensure that we provide your patient a quality piece of equipment. The goal is to addresses their specific, functional needs and provides them with the appropriate seating, with improved mobility and/or with improved independence. This is all accomplished by completing a thorough evaluation to assess physical and/or cognitive limitations, funding source(s) allowables, environments of use, caregiver access and methods/modes of transportation. These phases include:

Evaluation & Design: You and URS’s Assistive Technology Provider will specify and design your patient’s chair based on the specific needs prescribed by your patient’s physician.
Funding Approval: URS will collect all the required medical documentation from you and the physician, and submit the documentation to your patient’s funding source, and will receive approval for funding the purchase
Purchasing: URS will place the order for the equipment, receive the equipment, and verify the components
Assembly: URS will assemble the entire chair and make sure everything functions properly
Delivery and Final Fitting: URS will schedule and make delivery of the equipment, perform a final fitting to assure that the chair is properly sized, instruct the client on using the chair and its components, have the client perform a return demonstration showing that they have thorough knowledge and ability to use the equipment.

The approximate timeline for completing this process is reflected below:

Kids Playing Evaluation & Design: 1 to 2 Weeks
Funding Approval: 4 to 12 Weeks
Purchasing: 3 to 6 Weeks
Assembly: 1 Week
Delivery: 1 Week

URS will make every effort to complete each phase as quickly as possible without compromising the quality of the chair or the requirements of the funding source. We appreciate your patience and understanding and assure that we will act as quickly as possible to complete the delivery of your chair. Please understand that our focus and passion is providing your patient with the most clinically appropriate, financially responsible, and functional piece of equipment in the fastest timeline possible under the requirements/criteria of each individual’s funding source(s).
